The Alentejo tartlets have conquered their space thanks to the simplicity of their elements: very thin cakes, filled with a sweet cream cheese paste (or fresh cheese), eggs, sugar, butter and flour. It’s time to create your own cream cheese tartlet. Get to work!

Step 1
Mix the flour with the lard, add a little hot water and the salt. Knead well until obtaining a consistent dough. Let stand for a few minutes.

For the filling, mix the cream cheese with the egg yolks.
Step 3
Add the sugar and mix. Add the melted margarine and orange zest. Blend well.
Step 4
Whisk the egg whites and add them to the filling. Incorporate the flour. Set aside.
Step 5
Preheat the oven to 250 °C.
Step 6
Roll out the pastry, cut out circles and line the moulds. Fill the shells with the cheese mixture.
Step 7
Make swirls with the remaining dough and place on top of the filling.
Step 8
Place the cream cheese tartlets in the oven and bake until golden brown.
